Digital Consulting for An Artist

Design, Brainstorming, and Engagment
Project Overview
Artist Christine Keefe needed help developing media literacy and I trained my successor upon handing off the project for its next steps in the process. She is an oil painter who takes collages of her own photography and projects it on to a hand made canvas to tell a story through art.
My Contributions
Defining the problem: Trying to create a new experience for new clients to view the work in the way it was intended and to design a visually appealing/ accessible way to display the current work.Understanding your users: We planned out what content she was going to create and went through the user ability testing and desirability process by asking surveyors in a focus group how they felt about a painting and where they stood in their understanding their perception. Artist Christine Keefe says “I want my viewers to feel a sense of curiosity, and hopefulness I have to keep the wheels greased, so making something that forms a connection with the viewer such so that they want live with it, the emotion it carries for them personally. It’s what the viewer brings to the artworks as individuals that is as important as what the artist intended.”
The goal was to spark emotion and create an important visual story, using imagery that combined has deeper meaning.Applying Feedback/Design Decisions: using focus groups we tested this painting. The focus group final results and what you learned: We optimized the presentation of her paintings by posting the paintings to her instagram that were the most loved by the focus groups. I stuck with it and continue to help this artist today showing her work and organizing it.

Development

“Creating important artwork that I need to see, that is the motivation, that is all of it for me. If an audience feels something about it, that is wonderful.” - Christine Keefe.
